All of the Instructors involved in this program have personally experienced some form of cancer. As we began our own individual treatment journeys, we found great solace in practicing mindfulness. That's why we want to help you lean how to use this helpful tool. Our goal is to create a safe and nurturing yoga practice designed with adaptations for cancer taken into consideration. In addition, we hope to provide participants with an opportunity to meet and talk to others who are in or have experienced something similar.
In Honor of Phyllis K. Mitchell
A person who lived her life filled with passion, compassion, humor, and incredible style, Phyllis shared this kindness, joy and love with everyone she met. She was an amazing person, and throughout her life, she embodied these ideals as she became a successful business woman, mother, grandmother and friend.
When diagnosed with cancer, Phyllis discovered that through practicing yoga she was able to better manage the physical and emotional challenges of her treatments. She wanted to share this knowledge with others. That’s why we dedicate the Dandelion Tribe to her.
“Like the dandelion, you may feel like you’ve been defined as something undesirable in being diagnosed with cancer. In actuality, you are resilient, vibrant in color and filled with more strength than you realize.”
Her ongoing commitment to staying healthy, vibrant and grounded even in the face of serious health challenges serves as an inspiration for all. Phyllis envisioned offering cancer patients free mindfulness classes to help them stay present, calmer and less overwhelmed during their treatments. Through the Dandelion Tribe we can make this dream a reality. Please help us spread the word to anyone you feel may benefit from these classes.
We strive to create a supportive on-line community for anyone who has been physically impacted by cancer in some way. Our goal is to give people a healthy outlet for processing stress and trauma in a compassionate way. Through our blog, weekly on-line classes and workshops, We invite you to join us!
Your generous donation will go directly to the Bob Perks Fund. The Bob Perks Cancer Assistance Fund helps ease the financial burden of individuals and families in our community who are battling cancer by providing funding for basic necessities so their focus is on treatment and recovery.
